Liberty football wins back-to-back state championships!
Staff

Congratulations to our Warriors for this amazing accomplishment!

Liberty Christian football has won back-to-back state championships for the first time in school history!

Their 45-24 win over Parish Episcopal in Waco on Dec. 7 gives the Warriors five total state championships since the school’s inception in 1983. This marks the first time in school history where the Warriors have won a title in the highest division of TAPPS, with the others being at the Division II, AAAA, or the AA level.

The Warriors’ win over Parish Episcopal snaps the Panthers’ streak of five straight championship victories at the Division I level, which Parish won by an average of 23.2 points per game. Liberty’s win over Parish is also its second of the season, with the first coming in a 35-27 home victory in October.

This two-year championship stretch by the Warriors has been dominant. Liberty, under head coach Jason Witten, has a 27-1 record in that timeframe, with the only loss coming against a UIL Class 5A Texarkana Texas High team that went undefeated in the 2024 regular season.

In those two seasons, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 1,375-269, good for an average of 39.9 points per game.

“I am very proud that the 2024 Liberty Christian Warriors will be remembered as the TAPPS Division I state champions,” Witten said.

“My staff and I have loved coaching this team. We knew it would take a special commitment from these young men for us to defend our 2023 championship, especially against such a talented team in Parish Episcopal, the five-time defending champions.

“I would like to personally thank all of those within the Liberty community that supported the boys this season – we had such positive energy and support at every game, and it played a tremendous part in all of our success.

“I am proud to be a Liberty Christian Warrior.”
