Staff

Liberty Christian School honors two alumni each year with a Distinguished Alumni Award and we are proud to announce the 2024-2025 recipients! One female and one male graduate are recognized for outstanding career achievement, service to others, admirable character, a sincere walk with the Lord, continued support of Liberty, and completion of a college degree. These alumni exemplify the values and mission of Liberty.

We are excited to announce Lissie Kevlin (Class of 2014) as a 2024-2025 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient.

Q&A

What does this award mean to you?

Kevlin: I’m honored and humbled to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award this year. To be recognized in the very community that shaped my faith, character, and leadership is extremely meaningful. Liberty will always hold a special place in my heart, as it built the foundation of who I am today. It has been such a gift to stay connected to Liberty through working in ministry, and this award is a reminder of the lasting impact Liberty makes, not just for a season, but for life!

What was the biggest impact that Liberty had on you as a student?

Kevlin: To me, Liberty is more to me than just a place of education or a local school – it’s a place that builds a foundation in the lives of young people with an eternal impact. My teachers and coaches showed me the value of discipleship and modeled what it looks like for healthy, Godly adults to speak truth and life into young people. It grew a passion in me for the next generation, and I wanted to be for students what so many adults at Liberty were for me. Without Liberty, I believe I would be in a very different place with a very different career. Liberty goes so far beyond providing an excellent education – they truly care for every student and love them in a way that changes their lives forever.

What would you say is your biggest accomplishment thus far?

Kevlin: It's been a blessing and a gift to serve in youth ministry and walk alongside students and their families. From nerves before their first volleyball game to learning how to trust God through some really hard stuff, I have had the opportunity to stand with numerous students through the easy and hard seasons, the good and bad moments, and all of the in between. I’ve been able to remind them who God says they are, not what the world tells them, and that a life with Him is far greater than anything else this world can offer. While there are milestones or accomplishments that might look admirable on paper, the true gift in my life has been investing in the next generation and seeing lives changed for Jesus.

How do you continue to grow in Christ and serve your community?

Kevlin: What keeps me growing in my relationship with Christ is intentional, personal time with Him. Every Church service, worship nights, and Bible study have been incredibly valuable in my walk with God, but my deepest growth has come in the quiet place, time spent alone with God in prayer, in His Word, and learning to know His voice. Growing in intimacy with Him has transformed my relationship, moving from simply knowing Him as Savior to living with Him as Lord of my life.

I currently serve on staff with the Youth Team at Milestone Church in Argyle. I get to be a part of our Wednesday night Elevate services, Sunday mornings, and serving the community through things like FCA, volleyball team chapels, school lunches, and other ways to connect. It’s an honor to serve this community and to invest in the next generation right here where I grew up.

What did the biblical component at Liberty mean to you as a student?

Kevlin: My 13 years at Liberty shaped the way I see the world, others, myself, and most importantly, God. Liberty taught me what it means to live for what truly matters. A lot of God’s word that I lean on today was first memorized in Liberty classrooms as a child. I share the Gospel with students in the same way Mrs. Jenkins shared it with me years ago in a Liberty hallway, when I first gave my life to Jesus. I remember specific conversations I had with teachers and coaches about life, faith, and values, moments that formed my perspective on what really matters. A school built on the foundation of God’s Word is a rare and priceless gift, and, to me, is the most valuable part of Liberty’s legacy.

Anything else you would like to add?

Kevlin: I am thankful for this opportunity and excited to share the impact Liberty has had on my life. I believe Liberty continues to shape every student who walks through its doors, and I am expectant for all God will do in the lives of those who are yet to come.
