Theatre

This intermediate/introductory theatre course is designed for students who wish to continue studying acting as a part of a theatrical troupe. Students will perform, direct and participate in school-wide productions. This course will require less after-school commitment and is for students who want to continue theatre but may not have the after-school time to commit.

Students will also explore stagecraft and technical theatre, as well as directing and producing. Students must be willing to participate in one show each semester. Throughout the preparation of each show, students will explore acting styles, acting methods, and review theatre technique, vocabulary and history. 

This advanced theatre course is designed for students who wish to continue studying acting as part of a theatrical troupe. Students will perform, direct and compete in various scenes, plays and school-wide productions.

Students also explore stagecraft and technical theatre, as well as directing and producing. Students must be willing to participate in productions, competitions, and many other projects. Throughout the preparation of each project, students explore acting styles, acting methods and various areas of theatre. This class requires outside rehearsals (after school and on weekends), performances and traveling.

ShowStoppers is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th grade actors and singers who desire to develop their skills vocally and theatrically. Acceptance into the class is based on an audition with teachers. This class is designed to teach, perform and observe higher levels of singing, theatre and musical art. Fundamentals in singing and musical theatre acting will be reviewed and expounded.

The goal of this class is to acclimate students to a mixed-age cast/choir and encourage them to take on leadership responsibilities that will prepare them for Upper School choir, theatre and more. Because ShowStoppers is a performance course, students will display their skills, talents and gifts in a fall concert and a Broadway musical in the spring.

This theatre course is for students in grades 6-8 who have discovered their passion for theatre and desire to hone their skills in preparation for Encore and Bravo at the Upper School level. Members of the class are required to perform in an annual fall/winter presentation and compete in area contests including the Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) One Act Play competition. 

Class time is spent rehearsing for performances and studying various acting styles and theatre techniques. Mandatory outside rehearsals the weeks before a performance will be required to prepare for the performance. 

Ovation is a 5th grade Musical Theatre elective. During this class, students will explore the fundamentals of musical theatre. They will explore dancing, acting, singing and technical theatre. The semester will culminate in a performance to showcase growth.
