Students Awarded All-Region and All-State Choir Honors
Back-to-back TAPPS state champion choir students earned honors from the Texas Private School Music Educators Association’s All-Region and All-State Competition held each year.
“Our students work hard after school and submit a recording of themselves to compete against everyone in our region,” said Kaleigh McFarland, Upper and Middle School Choral Director. “Judges meet and choose the top voices in each voice part to make up one large choir of the best voices.
“Once students make it into All-Region choir, their recordings are sent to All-State judges who choose the All-State Choir.”
Senior Sara Beauchamp made the All-Region Treble Choir, sophomore Kylie Lewis ranked third in the Soprano 2's, senior Reed Taber ranked 13th in the Bass 1 section, senior Ben Ward ranked 7th, and senior Braedon Lindsey, ranked 4th in the Tenor 2 section.
“This is an especially huge honor for Braedon, a senior, as this was his first year to audition!” said Mrs. McFarland. “Kylie Lewis made All-State as a freshman, and now she has made it again as a sophomore!”
Students will travel to Abilene, Texas, on Jan. 5–6 to rehearse and perform a concert with the best voices from the region. Kylie and Braedon will head to All-State later in January to sing with the best vocalists in the state.
