Middle School Volleyball Short Court Tourney Creates Fun, Builds Skills
Each year, the Middle School volleyball coaching staff divides the normal volleyball court into a type of four-square, and when the players dress up in costume and create team names, a unique and fun experience ensues, as parents join the fun and cheer for their girls in this Warrior versus Warrior showdown.
“Last summer during tryouts, returning players were already asking if we were going to hold this short court tournament,” said Coach Ashley Jordan. “It has become an annual event that the girls really enjoy.”
With a total of our matches played, volleyball coaches make the teams, and the brackets form as each team pulls a straw.
“The short court tournament is not only fun for the athletes to play, but the coaches and parents enjoy watching!” said Coach Jordan. “Playing short games like these also helps teach communication, ball control, and net play.”
Held during the athletics period on Oct. 17, the girls competed in teams named Tie Dye Tyranny, Santa Court, The Smurfs, Purple Grapes, Dem Boyz, Rainbros, The Bears, and The Things.
