Highlights of Third Grade at Liberty

Special Days

Sock Puppet Presentation

Third grade students are introduced to 26 famous Americans who played an important part in America’s history. Students study the history of America through the lives of these people. One of their projects involves researching a famous American, making a sock puppet of him or her, then presenting their puppet to the class.

Chick Hatching

Baby chicks are an annual third grade highlight. Super Science teacher, J.J. Searcy, orders the eggs, sets up the incubators in each of the rooms, and provides guidance and care along the way. The baby chicks incubate for 21 days. Then, the hatching process begins! Students learn very basic life lessons about God’s creation and new life. It is so exciting to see the stages of growth and anticipate the arrival of the baby chicks.

Field Trips

Elm Fork Science Center

Third grade students visit Elm Fork Education Center, whose mission is to develop and implement premiere environmental education programs. These programs provide investigative encounters that engage students of all ages in field activities and discovery experiences. These opportunities are designed to encourage sound environmental decision making and responsible environmental stewardship.

Mission Trip

Mi Escuelita Preschool

Students in third grade travel to Mi Escuelita preschool in Dallas for their mission day. Students collect and then bring books to give to preschoolers there. They also share the love of Jesus by playing with the children, making crafts with them, and reading to them.
