Band

We are eager to walk alongside our students as they grow from Primary School to Upper School and make music a part of their life.

The Liberty band program seeks to glorify Jesus through excellence in competition and also build great musicians who will enjoy playing music their whole life. We seek to build, cultivate and express the gifts students are blessed with by employing a biblical worldview with a focus that remains on Christ.

The Liberty band as received multiple accolades, including winning five state championships and consistently receiving the highest ratings in competitions throughout all band levels. We continue to grow musicians who excel while playing music.

Upper School Band

The Upper School Band comprises the Marching Band in the fall, the Concert Band in the fall and spring, and the Jazz Band in the spring. The Marching Band and Drum Line focus on various styles of music (for example: pop, rock and jazz) for performances at pep rallies and football games. We strive to build a repertoire of musical knowledge for each student. This knowledge encompasses verbiage, musical notation, musical concepts and playing experience.

Marching Band performs at all the football games (home and away), pep rallies, parades and marching contests. Musicianship is built through working on marching fundamentals, as well as playing stand tunes during football games and halftime shows. The drumline also competes at drumline contests.

Concert Band performs for select shows and concerts throughout the school year, as well as at competitions for solo, large and jazz band ensembles. Individual musicianship is emphasized and cultivated. Fundamental and advanced musicianship skills are continued through the study of concert literature, contests and sight reading.

Jazz Band focuses on big band swing music, blues forms and individual improvisation over chord changes. The band will learn how chord progressions function in jazz music and study music theory to learn how to improvise solos within those chord progressions.

Middle School Concert Band

We strive to build competition experience while building a repertoire of musical knowledge for each student. This knowledge encompasses verbiage, musical notation, musical concepts and playing experience. The students gain experience on their instruments by sight reading, expanding their range, performing and by learning new songs.

Beginning Band

Fifth grade students begin their musical journey as they are assisted with choosing an instrument to learn how to play. Students will learn techniques to function inside of a musical group while improving musically with individual and group practice. They also perform two concerts and will compete at solo and large ensemble contests.
