  • Bailey McKissack Heard '03

An international speaker, certified life coach, and co-author of “The Ellie Project,” alumna Bailey McKissack Heard said Liberty’s “kind, encouraging, and positive atmosphere” and the staff’s emphasis on holding fast to Christian values no matter what life brings helped create a strong foundation of faith in her life.

“I was a brand new Christian when I came to Liberty at age 13, and I begged my parents to let me come to Liberty so I could be surrounded by godly influencers who were living out their faith in the way I desired to live out my own,” she said.

After graduation, Bailey attended and cheered for Baylor University and met a football player, Andrew Heard, who went to Truett Seminary. They fell in love, got married, and both came to Liberty after college graduation to teach and coach for a few years. Later, Andrew became a pastor, and the couple had their daughter, Ellie Grace.

A couple of years later, Andrew was diagnosed with cancer, and in the final 10 months of his life, he wrote several books and spoke all across Texas, inspiring thousands with his blog, writing, and messages. On July 26, 2013, Andrew went home to be with the Lord.

“Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically, I have experienced a lot, and what I know to be true is that God is with me wherever I go,” Bailey said. “His unconditional love meets me where I am and sits with me and stays with me. I don't have to do anything, go anywhere, or be like anybody else to earn His love. My job is to stay connected to His love and to acknowledge He is with me always.”

Andrew wrote a book, “The Ellie Project,” before he died as an alphabet picture book of animals, love letters, and life lessons for children and their daughter, Ellie, as she grew up.

Bailey said Liberty will always hold a special place in her heart.

“The experiences I have had here as a student, a teacher, a cheer coach, and a Liberty parent have all shaped me into the woman I am today,” she said. “I am forever indebted for the kindness and love this school has poured into me, Andrew, and our daughter, Ellie"
  • Danielle Hibbett Bakic '06

As part of the first class that graduated from Liberty’s campus in Argyle after it moved from Denton, Danielle Hibbett Bakic shares how her boys, Barron and Brantley, love Liberty just like she did as a student.

“I honestly feel that Liberty is the best thing that has happened to our family,” said Danielle. “I have shared our experience with countless others who now also go to Liberty.”

After Danielle graduated from Liberty, she graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Elementary Education. She owns her own company now, Coach Danielle’s Swimming Fishes, where she teaches both adults and children alike this important life skill.

She said Liberty helped shape so much of the person she is today.

“Liberty was a huge foundation in my spiritual relationship with the Lord. I am so thankful for the mission trips, as they opened my eyes to the world around me,” she said. “I want my children to have the same experiences that I did as a student at Liberty. It is a privilege and honor to be at such an incredible school.”

After college, Danielle traveled extensively sharing the gospel and studying the Bible in England. Soon after her travels, she married Preston, and now 11 years later, they feel so fortunate to have their children at Liberty.

“We love that Liberty is a great foundation for our boys and their spiritual development,” she said. “We have seen them grow so much closer to the Lord, and their hearts are filled with so many Scripture verses that they use and apply to their lives.”

Danielle says that she tells her Liberty story with everyone she encounters.

“Everywhere I go, I share with people the impact Liberty has had on my family and me,” she said. “We feel truly blessed that our children attend such a wonderful school that is centered around Christ.”
