Liberty Learning Center

The Liberty Learning Center provides services to students who have diagnosed learning differences.

While promoting the Warrior Way Values, the mission of the Liberty Learning Center is to empower students with strategies and skills to overcome learning differences to achieve academic success. 

Primary School

The Primary School Learning Center offers a continuum of services for students with current educational diagnostic evaluations:

  • Dyslexia Intervention utilizing the Barton Reading and Spelling Systems (minimum 2 hours weekly: Orton-Gillingham system for students with dyslexia or other reading deficit providing systematic, explicit and intensive instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension.)
  • Learning Center Small Group Remediation (three 30-minute sessions weekly for students needing remediation or curriculum support)
  • Access to the Testing Center (2nd-5th grade students may receive a quiet setting and accommodations as determined by the Learning Center Team.)
  • Lexia Reading Program (online, self-paced differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities in grades Pre-K–5. Lexia provides explicit, systematic, personalized learning in phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency, and targets skill gaps as they emerge.)
  • Learning Ally (An audible book app for students to hear text as they read along.)
  • Classroom Accommodations (determined by the Learning Center Team as recommended by diagnostic evaluations)

Middle and Upper School

Learning Centers at the Middle School and Upper School offer the following services for students with current educational diagnostic evaluations:
 
  • Navy Plan: Students have a scheduled Learning Center Study Hall for tailored support in acquiring strategies and skills to become successful learners. Students receive guidance in self-advocacy skills, efficient study habits, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Gray Plan: Students are provided weekly consults with the Learning Center Teacher to receive guidance in self-advocacy skills, efficient study habits, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Access to the Testing Center for extended time on tests.
  • Learning Ally (An audible book app for students to hear text as they read along.)
  • Classroom accommodations as determined by the Learning Center Team.
  • The LLC does not provide:
    • Specialized instruction
    • Tutoring
    • Homework help
    • One-on-one entire LC Study Hall
    • Modified curriculum or modified assignments

Liberty Learning Center

Teachers collaborate with classroom teachers and parents throughout the school year to adjust plans as needed. Teachers seek to understand their students and the way in which they learn. They joyfully anticipate guiding students to become successful lifelong learners.
