
4/1/08 - Jr. High TMSCA
Congratulations to the award winning Jr. High TMSCA (Texas Math and Science Coaches Assoc.) team. The state competition was held at the University of Texas in San Antonio this past Saturday. Those representing “team Liberty”, as we called ourselves, were:
6th : Kailey Cox, Ben Menard, Jacob Quast, and Rusty Vittrup
8th: Kara Vogelzang, Ben Hammer, Josh Harris, K.J. Lee, T.J. Pak, Dio Choi
There was stiff competition at the meet. Only those qualifying from among thousands across the state of Texas were allowed to compete at this level. This was the first state meet for this team. It was very exciting for all of us. The team made themselves known with an impressive showing.

8/16/07 - LCS Varsity Cheerleaders - ACA Camp Rock Award Winners!
The Liberty Christian Varsity cheerleaders attended ACA cheer camp at The University of North Texas in June. The squad’s goals for the week were to bond and work together as they learned new material.
For the fourth year in a row, The LCS Varsity cheerleaders received the ACA Rock Award. This is the most prestigious award given at ACA camps. The staff votes and gives this award to the squad that shows the most character and team unity. The squad also received awards for Spirit Stick and winning the Home Cheer competition, as well as a bid to ACA’s National Competiton.
Many of the girls also received individual and small group awards.

LIBERTY CHRISTIAN DANZ TEAM BRINGS HOME
CHAMPIONSHIP DANCE AWARDS
The Liberty Christian Danz Team faced some tough competition in the 2008 Danceline North Texas Championship Dance and Drill Team Contest on Saturday, March 1st. This event was hosted by the Denton High School Fillies. 15 dance teams arrived to compete against each other for awards.
Under TEAM events, Liberty received the GRAND CHAMPION award (beating out 6 other public schools) and the DANCELINE GOLD award (for receiving a 95 or above on three dance routines from all judges). Their spectacular Jazz routine won two awards: the CHOREOGRAPHY AWARD and the BEST IN CATEGORY AWARD. Their beautiful lyrical/modern routine won the BEST IN CATEGORY AWARD.
Under the OFFICER events, Megan Minns, Kristen Smith and Aunie Ashworth’s performances earned the following awards: SWEEPSTAKES and 1ST RUNNER UP for the Grand Champions. JUDGES AWARD and BEST IN CATEGORY for their very moving lyrical routine.
Under the SOLO event, KAILEY CLABORN received 2nd place, CORRINE MADDOUX and COLLEEN HAWK received a division 1 rating (scoring 90 or above). There were over 40 soloists competing for awards in this very tough category.
TAYLOR SCHMIDT and KAILEY CLABORN received 1st place for their exciting Duet.
MEGAN MINNS received THE ANITA JEFFERSON CONLEY RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE AWARD for her performances.
CORRINE MADDOUX and LAUREN LUNDBLADE both received 3rd place in the Technique Challenge.
Every girl on the Danz Team deserves a great big congratulations for their achievements and combined awards. Hard work, numerous days and hours of practice, and team commitment has paid off for these fantastic girls.

LIBERTY CHRISTIAN DANZ TEAM---ALWAYS MOVIN’
Being on the Liberty Christian Danz Team requires a lot of time, dedication and hard work These girls are committed to following the instructions and guidelines of their Director Julie Price and their Assistant Director Ashley Heslep in order to have a superior Christian dance team.
The LCS Danz Team ended their Spring ‘07 semester with a variety of 9 dances performed for Artist Garden. It was fabulous entertainment for everyone. Artist Garden is the last performance for the graduating seniors.
May induction followed. There were many tears as the girls said “goodbye” to the seniors. Newcomers were welcomed onto the Danz Team at Oakmont Country Club There were 8 new dancers, and 4 new officers inducted for the ’07 - ’08 year.
The officers, Megan Minns (Captain), Kristen Smith (Co-Captain), Aunie Ashworth (Senior Lt), Mandi Garvin (Senior Lt.), Jill Briggs (Social Officer), and Katherine Pastusek (Chaplain) attended Half-time Entertainment OFFICER CAMPS in the summer. This camp had over 300 officers attending, representing 50 different Texas schools. Our girls walked away with 5 fabulous awards
Outstanding Choreography, a coveted award, was earned by our LCS officers for their exceptional “original” choreographed dance piece. Outstanding Leadership, an award given by the camp staff to teams demonstrating excellence in leadership and teamwork skills, was an honor to earn. Outstanding Technique, was awarded to the officers by the staff for excellence in dance technique skills throughout the week.
The “Spirit” Staff award and “Spirit” Stick award were earned by the girls for their friendliness, enthusiasm and team strengths.
HOME CAMP brought the entire team closer together. Outstanding Dancer Awards were presented to Brianna Parker for Showmanship and to Colleen Hawk for Memory.
Girls who received 3 or more ribbons received an All Star Invitation. They are Megan Minns, Kristen Smith, Aunie Ashworth, Mandi Garvin, Jill Briggs, Katherine Pastusek, Kristen Medo, Taylor Schmidt and Kailey Claborn.
The camp leaders were very impressed with our Danz Team on their wonderful behavior, team work, and their willingness to follow directions and work hard.
The Danz Team ended the summer by attending the Crowd Pleasers camp. The girls received a Superior Award on their Home routine performance, a Superior Award on a new routine performance and Two Spirit Awards. The dancers were once again honored to receive the “Outstanding Discipline” Award for the 3rd year in a row. The dancers realize that are representing Liberty Christian School and are proud to be on a Christian dance team. Our 21 team members are: Jill Briggs, Aunie Ashworth, Megan Minns, Kristen Smith, Mandi Garvin, Katherine Pastusek, Brianna Parker, Colleen Hawk, Ally Barnett, Kristen Medo, Kailey Claborn, Taylor Schmidt, Corrine Maddoux, Amber Hardin, Ashley Hopkins, Allie Gilbert, Sarah Dulin, Lauren Lundblade, Cameron Gannon, Miranda Palmer, and Alexis Stephenson. Managers are Rachel Barnes and Kaylyn Murphy.

Liberty competed in the Regional Science Olympiad at North Lake College in Irving on Saturday, March 29. The following students received medals in their events:

1/7/08 - Liberty Christian Girls Basketball
The Liberty Christian girls basketball team won the prestigious Mansfield Rotary Tournament over the holidays. They did the impossible beating 5 ranked public schools including 3rd ranked Mansfield Timberview in class 5A. They now have won 9 games against state ranked public schools. That has never been done before. Here's how Liberty was the first private school to win the Mansfield tournament. See the video!
