Lower School

The Liberty Christian School Lower School is made up of grades K-5.  Average class size is maintained at 16 for kindergarten and 20 for grades 1-5.

Environment

Liberty has an indisputable reputation for being a school with high standards and students with incredible potential for all kinds of successes after graduation. One of the main reasons these students achieve such academic excellence is because of the exemplary curriculum in each of their classes. This does not just include the outstanding academic classes. Liberty gives each student a wide range of opportunities with exceptional programs. In addition to the A Beka academic curriculum, Lower School students benefit from enrichment classes such as Bible, Art, Computer, Latin, Applied Music, Vocal Music, Music History and Appreciation, Drama, Band, and Physical Education.

Curriculum

The basic curriculum used in the lower school is A Beka, an accelerated Christian curriculum. Each grade-level teaching team enhances the curriculum to meet the needs of the students and to achieve the goals of Liberty Christian School.

Enrichment

Art - Student in kindergarten through fourth grade participate in a 45-minute art class once a week, which gives the students the opportunity to do more involved artwork and to participate in actual art lessons. This is beneficial because they will then be learning new techniques with each project they undertake. Art is an elective choice in fifth grade.

Band and Applied Music - Kindergarten through fourth grade students participate in an applied music class each week for 30 minutes. Band is an elective option beginning in fifth grade.

Choral Music - Kindergarten through fourth grade students participate in vocal music classes once a week for 30 minutes. Choir is an elective option beginning in fifth grade.

Computer - Kindergarten through fifth grade students attend computer class once a week for 30 minutes. Fifth grade students attend class each week for 45 minutes. The computer lab is also accessible for class visits throughout the week for teachers to reinforce lessons from their curriculum. 

Drama - Drama is an elective option beginning in fifth grade.

Latin - Kindergarten through fifth grade students participate in a 30-minute Latin class each week.

Music History - Kindergarten through fourth grade students participate in a 30-minute music history class each week.

Physical Education - Kindergarten through fifth grade students have 30 minutes of PE daily. 

Operation

Hours are from 8:30 am to 3:20 pm. Nutritional meals are served every day. Faculty members are on duty each morning beginning at 7:45 am for supervision of students arriving early.  After-care (3:20 pm - 6:00 pm) is available at an additional charge.
